Carly Shows Sonny Baby Outfit

April 2000. Sonny and Carly are starting to plan more for their baby.

Sonny: I've got to get to the warehouse.

Carly: Do you want to see your surprise first?

Sonny: Sure. Why not?

Carly: (Opens a shopping bag and pulls out a baby outfit) Ta-da. It's the baby's coming home from the hospital outfit.

Sonny: (Studies it, holds it) You sure it'll fit? It looks too little.

Carly: No, if anything, it'll be too big. Newborns are really tiny.

Sonny: (Smiles, as he studies and holds the outfit). I can't imagine anyone, like, this small. (laughs) What are we doing?

Carly: I never asked you if you wanted a boy or a girl.

Sonny: I want a happy, healthy child.

Carly: Well, you say he a lot, so I sort of assumed that maybe you wanted a boy.

Sonny: Well, a girl would have my name.

Carly: Maybe your eyes, your dimples. Well, I'd think it would be nicer for a girl to have dimples. Don't you think?

Sonny: Well . . .

Carly: Well, didn't you get teased a lot when you were growing up?

Sonny: I did and I just beat people up. A daughter maybe would have your blond hair. What do you think?

Carly: Or maybe it would have red hair like Michael. You know, maybe it'll be a boy. Michael can have a little brother.

Sonny: That would be nice. I always wanted a brother or sister.

Carly: Or a son.

Sonny: Yeah.

Carly: It's amazing, sort of, having this little life inside that we've never met and yet it's already changed everything, you know?

Sonny: For the better. You know, I always say I regret it, and I do because it was wrong. I hurt Jason, and I . . . I remember what you told me. I took his whole life and everything he loved and deserved to have. (Full of emotion) But, I got to tell you . . . my child . . . our child . . . I tell you . . . is the best thing that ever happened to me.

Carly: You know what? It doesn't matter how this baby was conceived. What matters is that we love it. And we always will.

Sonny: Thanks for the surprise.

Carly: I'm glad you like it.

Sonny: Yeah. I'm going to go. I’ve got to go. Got to go to the warehouse. Let me know what you want for dinner, huh?
