GH Review 2005-Summary of Sonny & Mike Scenes

October 12, 2005

The three Michael's at breakfast.

Mike: Here we go.

Michael: Yes!

Mike: Two orders of pancakes for my two favorite men.

Sonny: Thank you, Mike.

Mike: Absolutely. Listen, more coffee? And how about some orange juice?

Michael: Can I have coffee, too?

Sonny: Maybe in about five years, buddy.

(Mike laughs)

Michael: Oh.

Mike: Listen, I'll tell you what, later on I'll give you a sip of my decaf, all right?

Michael: Thanks, Grandpa.

Mike: All right, you're welcome.

Comments:

I love when Michael calls Mike Grandpa.

Sonny & Mike
at Kelly's.

Sonny gets a call from Mike because Carly and Reese are fighting at Kelly's.

(Mike calls Sonny on the phone) Mike: Hey, it's me. Can you hear me?

Sonny: What's going on?

Mike: It's World War III down here and it's getting ugly! You've got to get down here.

(Sonny at Kelly's) Sonny: Mike, I'm sorry. I'm going to pay for the damages.

Mike: Hey, don't worry. We'll work it out.

Sonny: Mike? Got any ice?

Mike: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I got some right here. Here it is.

Reese: Thanks, Mike.

Comments:

OK, not a lot of meaty dialogue here, but at least Sonny and Mike were in the same room together. As a Sonny and Mike fan, this is excruciating (their lack of scenes).

May 31, 2005

Sonny: How's Michael?

Mike: Well, let's see. He woke up, came downstairs, and did a little dance on Reese's head.

Sonny: He didn't.

Mike: Yeah, yeah, he told her that her services were no longer required.

Sonny: Yeah?

Mike: Thank you. That you were with Carly and you were patching things up so your family could get back together.

Sonny: Well . . . at least we know he's back to his old fighting ways, right?

Mike: Yeah, yeah, little troublemaker. Wonder where he gets that from. So, look, is there any truth to it, or is the kid just getting his hopes up for nothing?

Sonny: I'd love to give Michael what he wants, but it's not going to happen. Carly and I know better now.

Mike: Well, at least you made the decision.

Sonny: Yes. Can you do me a favor? Can you stay here just a little while longer? I need to go see Reese, make sure there's no permanent damage, you know.

Mike: I'm good.

Sonny: All right.

Mike: Later.

Comments: It's always good to see Mike involved with his grandchildren.

Mike takes Michael to the hospital.

Mike watches a still traumatized Michael, when both Sonny and Carly are arrested. He tries to talk to Michael, but he is unresponsive. When John Durant shows up and attempts to talk to Michael about AJ's murder, Michael shuts down and they take him to the hospital.

Mike: Michael? Wouldn't you rather have a real baseball? You know, like the one Sonny bought you last year? You remember? He'd take you to the park and you guys would toss it back and forth? You know, I think that Sonny had even more fun than you did. You know, I wasn't around much when he was a boy, and that was pretty tough on him. But now that he's a father himself, I know that there's nothing more important to him than being with his own kids. Sonny loves you, Michael, and he'll never, ever let you down. And neither will your mom. So, what do you say we get a real baseball and we go outside and we practice on your throwing until Sonny gets back?

Comments: It is always a welcome site to see Mike interacting with his grandchildren. Don't forget, Mike is also Michael's godfather, so it was nice to get this small scene.

Mike gets to see his Granddaughter.

Mike: Well, hi there, sweetie pie. How you doing today? Oh, listen, I've got some fresh cookies in the back. How about . . .
Alexis: Oh, listen, no, I don't want to keep you from work.
Mike: Hey, when it comes to my Granddaughter, there's nothing that can't wait. Listen, kids love having family around. Spending time with Sonny will be good for Kristina.

Mike: Bye, sweetie pie. I'll see you soon.
Alexis: Can you say "bye, Grandpa?"
Mike: Oh, she got a wave.
Alexis: Good girl. Hey, Mike? Listen, you're really sweet with her and I am sorry if I seemed hesitant at all.
Mike: Hey, hey, come on. It's ok, I understand.
Alexis: You're just really good with her and I just wanted to let you know that.

Comments:

So far, Mike has had more scenes with Kristina than he has with Morgan. But they have all been wonderful scenes. Let's hope that Mike can establish a relationship with his granddaughter. Maybe she can bring Sonny and Mike back together.
