Ron Hale Biography

Ron Hale was born on January 2 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He performed in his first play during high school while living in Chicago. He decided to pursue an acting career and ventured to New York at the age of nineteen. He enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts where he began his long career in theater, film, and television.

General Hospital is not Ron’s first soap opera role. He played Dr. Roger Coledridge on Ryan’s Hope for thirteen years where he earned two Daytime Emmy nominations for his portrayal. You can currently watch Ryan’s Hope on Soapnet. Ron also played Dr. Jim Abbot on Love is a Many Splendored Thing and performed the part of Walt Driscoll on Search for Tomorrow.

When Ryan’s Hope ended, Ron became involved in theater again. His brother, Jim Thigpen, runs a theatre in Columbia, South Carolina called Trustus. During this period of time Ron performed in seventeen shows.

Ron Hale came back to television when he won the role of Mike Corbin on General Hospital in 1995. He was supposed to play the role of Sonny Corinthos’ estranged father for only six months. But, GH producers liked the dynamics between Ron Hale and Maurice Benard and asked him to stay. Ron Hale is also a member of The Actors Studio.
