Dante and Michael. 12/12

Dante: Look, We really appreciate this.

Sonny: Hey, if you need anything, just let me know.

Lulu: Oh, my Gosh. It's more than generous of you.

Sonny: As you know, I wasn't a part of Dante growing up, never really had a chance to be a good father. Maybe now I can have a chance to be a better grandfather. Okay. Got to go. See you guys.

Lulu: Bye, Sonny.

Dante and Lulu. 11/12

Sonny: So, that's it? You're turning me down?

Dante: Come on. You can't be too surprised. We've always had issues around money. I mean, how many times have I accused you of trying to buy my love.

Sonny: Yeah, but maybe back then I might have been a little guilty, but like you said, the past is the past. Last few months, it seems like we've been more father and son.

Dante: Yeah, We have been working towards that.

Sonny: What's wrong with taking the money? I mean, there's nothing wrong with a father wanting to help out his son, especially when his son is having his own son.

Dante: Actually, about where the money comes from.

Sonny: Oh.

Dante: I don't want my kid owing his life to that world.

Sonny: Your kid wouldn't be owing his life to anything, you know?

Dante: Maybe not so much in that you have something to pay back, but I don't want him carrying that.

Sonny: Okay. I get it. What if the money came from the coffee business, completely legit? I want to do this for you and lulu. I want to do this for me.

Sonny: People outside are already starting to panic.

Dante: I have every available uniform out on the street.

Sonny: Yeah. But you know what? I can get my guys out to a local market, right, just to keep order.

Dante: Sonny, thank you. It's not like I don't appreciate the offer, okay. But I can't exactly deputize you guys to be out on the street. It way exceeds my authority, and the mayor would never go for that.

Sonny: Okay, listen to me. If things start to deteriorate and you change your mind, the offer still stands.

Dante visits Olivia in the hospital. 8/12

Sonny: I know it's difficult not knowing whether your Mom's going to come out of this or what she's going to be facing, but if you need anything , any kind of help, you know you can come to me, right?

Dante: Yeah. I'm good. Don't worry about me.

Sonny: Well, I worry about all my kids. You know that.

Sonny: “If someone were to pull the trigger and they don’t remember doing it and they weren’t in their right mind, how can they be held legally responsible?”

Dante: “So you’re asking me what would happen to Kate if she were found . . .”

Sonny: “If someone had DID what would happen?”

Dante: “If this someone came forward and admitted what they did . . . ”

Sonny: “She didn’t do it, she didn’t do it, I’m just saying if the other personality crossed the line and something happened, then what?”

Dante: “It’s up to the DA.”

Dante: It took me too long to see the truth in Ronnie, and my stupid blind spot almost got Lulu killed.

Sonny: Dante, you’re going to beat yourself up over this? You’re going blame yourself for not being psychic? You’re going go down that dark road? You start going down that dark road, you start getting angry and you can't do that. You got to let that go. You understand what I'm saying?

Dante: What am I supposed to do? Let it go? My wife was almost killed because of me.

Sonny: You bury it. Ronnie's dead. Whatever anger, whatever you feel inside, you bury it with him. You have to be grateful for what you got.

Dante is betrayed by Ronnie. 5/12

Dante and Lulu at the PCPD. 4/12

Dante: That’s not why I wanted you to come here.

Sonny: Well, what else do we got going on as father and son?

Dante: Aside from the fact that you saved my life?

Sonny: I don’t want anything in return from that. You know that, right?

Dante: It’s not about paying you back, it’s about respecting you for who you are to me, regardless of whether or not I agree with what you do.

Dante, Lulu, and Ronnie. 3/12

Dante: Am I crazy to believe after everything that he’s done that he didn’t do this?

Dante: When I saw you lying on the ground bleeding, I didn’t want you to die, Sonny. I didn’t want you to die any more than I want you to be the one who put those bullets in Anthony’s tires and killed those people.

Sonny: It’s not me.

Dante: Look. A 9mm was used to shoot out those tires. The same gun you were carrying around last night. The exact same gun that I found in Kate’s office where you said you had been. I want to believe you Sonny. But you’ve got to see the evidence is saying otherwise.

Sonny: You arresting me, son?

Dante at the PCPD. 3/12

Dante and Sonny. 3/12

Dante: Look, Sonny, you took a bullet for me, okay? You saved my life and I am grateful. Because of that, I think we have a chance here.

Sonny: We do. We do, Dante.

Dante: Okay. Then you have to tell me everything that happened after you left this hospital tonight.

Lulu: What about the part where Sonny saved your life?

Dante: That happened down in the garage. After Sonny made his big speech the party was pretty much over and I just wanted to get home to you and I left. Sonny follows me down there, we get into an argument again and I turn around to walk away from him and someone took a shot at me. Sonny pushed me out of the way and took the bullet.

Lulu: Was Sonny shot?

Dante: Yeah, shot in the arm, but he’s going to be fine.

Lulu: I can’t believe he did that. That’s amazing.

Dante: I know. I spent so much time pushing him away from me. Telling him that I despised him and he still saves my life.

Lulu: He’s your father.

Dante: That’s what he said. Said the same thing, like it’s just 'no explanation needed'.

Lulu: Well, he did what a parent is supposed to do. He’s looking out for his kid.

Dante: That’s what changed for me tonight. I always Sonny was a mobster first and my father second but it turns out it’s actually the other way around.

Dante: I have had nothing but contempt for you for a long time now.

Sonny: Oh what difference does it make? I’m only going to protect you when you’re nice to me?

Dante: I don’t know. Maybe.

Sonny: I wish you knew me better than that.

Dante: Well I know you, it’s just getting to understand you is a different thing.

Sonny: I don’t care how much you hate me, I would lie in front of a train for you.

Dante: Okay.

Sonny: Okay.

Dante: Well, maybe you can do me one more favor, then.

Sonny: That depends.

Dante: Let these doctors fix you up. I need to know you’re going be okay.

Sonny: For a second there I thought you were going call me Dad. I know, don’t push your luck.

Dante: Thank you for saving my life . . . Dad.

Sonny: I love my kids more than anything. I will die for them and I’m going to protect them! I’m going to shoot this son of a bitch . . .

Carly: No Sonny, No!

Sonny: Where he stands!

Dante: Sonny! Sonny, don’t.

Sonny: Take Carly out of here.

Dante: You know what, forget the parties and the donations. If you really want to impress me, you will put that gun down right now.

Sonny: Does it count for anything that I took a bullet for you Dante?

Dante: Yeah, you know it does.

Sonny: I’m calling in a favor. I want you to take Carly home. I want you to go home to your lovely wife. You were never here. Do you understand me?

Dante: You know I can’t do that, Sonny.

Sonny: I respect your badge. I would never make you an accessory to a crime. But I’ll protect my sons. I don’t care whether you like it or not.

Dante: I know. I get it. You are my father and I finally understand what that means to you. You would give your life for me. But, I cannot look the other way while you commit murder. Please, hand that gun to me.

Sonny: I don’t know what I’d do if I let him live and something happens to you.

Johnny: Dante I never . . .

Sonny: Shut up!

Carly: Sonny, give Dante the gun. Go to the hospital before you pass out.

Dante: Carly’s right. You’ve lost a lot of blood in the garage. You need to see a doctor.

Dante: You’re going to be alright you know?

Sonny: It could have been worse. It could have been you.

Dante: Yeah, look I know I was the target. What, what you did for me . . .

Sonny: I’m your father. It’s what a father’s supposed to do.

Dante: Still, there’s plenty of other ways to get me to not walk away, you know.

Sonny: I swore that my kid's would never look at me the way I looked at my father or my stepfather.

Kate: Sonny, you’re not Deke. You're not Mike, either. You didn't walk out on your kids for a card game.

Sonny: I wasn't a father to Dante.

Kate: That's Olivia's fault.

Sonny: I don't care whose fault it is. I keep trying to bust that wall down, and Dante keeps trying to build it up.

Sonny: I've been thinking about a wedding present for you and Lulu. I know that you guys don't want me to be involved in anything.

Dante: We're good. We're fine. I'm not taking your money.

Sonny: How about a better idea? How about if I make a donation to the hospital pulmonary wing in your name?

Dante: You're gonna just donate a whole wing?

Sonny: You said it's all right to use the money for a worthy cause, right?

Dante: Yeah, look, Sonny, there are plenty of worthy causes, okay? You want to send them your money, you feel free, but leave my name off of it, okay? I'm not gonna be your excuse to buy your way to redemption.

Dante. 1/12

Dante and Lulu. 1/12

Sonny: You know what? You're not just a badge, and I'm not just a criminal you're out to get. You know what? If we could just figure out how to get rid of this garbage and just have a relationship . . .

Dante: And do what? What are we going do? Talk sports and have a barbecue in the backyard?

Sonny: Is that so bad?

Dante: Yeah, until I get a call that I got to take you down to the station for questioning.

Sonny: If you get the damn call, then you take me in. If not, then we'll have dinner. We'll talk about something in common. And if it's just the Yankees, well, then, we'll meet in the middle. That's all I'm asking.

Dante: Here we are, another touching father-son bonding moment. Only this time I will use my gun.

Sonny: I heard you out. With more respect than you probably deserve. I'm going to ask you to leave, Dante.

Dante: I got a better idea, Sonny. Why don't you hand over your gun?

Sonny: I'm not going to give you my gun.

Dante: You will after I arrest you.

Sonny: On what grounds?

Dante: How about assault and battery on the pilot, for one?

Sonny: How do we know he didn't pass out because he was too drunk? Or he's too tired? Either way, it has nothing to do with me.

Dante: Well, we're about to find out, Sonny. Hand over your gun and put your hands where I can see them.

Sonny: Are you really going do this to both of us? You’re going arrest me, on what, some bogus charge?

Dante: Put your gun on the table, Sonny, and slide it over to me.

Sonny: No.

Dante: Sonny, put your damn gun on the table right now. Michael Corinthos Jr., You are under arrest, and you have the right to remain silent. If you should waive that right, anything you say can and will . . .

Sonny: (Sonny punches Dante, knocks him out cold, and leaves the plane).

Dante and Olivia. 7/11

Sonny: My son the cop. It amazes me every time.

Dante: You should try tackling it from my vantage point. Anyway, the part I can't get past is why would Luke go back to this terrible place that he grew up in?

Sonny: You could never understand.

Dante: Well, I'm trying to.

Sonny: Well, look, you're a cop, right? You know how to follow trails and you get the conclusion. But to truly understand what motivates guys like me and Luke. You grew up great. Right? You had a great mother. Big, loving family. You had goals that you could realistically reach. Luke and I, we grew up with a man in the house who basically slapped us around, made us feel like dirt. And eventually, you start believing that.

Dante: Yeah, but you survived. You ended up on the wrong side of the law, but, you know, you did ok for yourselves.

Sonny: It doesn't matter because the further you crawl out of that gutter, the more liable it sticks because it's just a chance, dumb luck. And you know that that gutter's waiting right there, waiting for you to fall and pull you down.

Dante: Luke just took a pretty hard fall.

Sonny: That's what I'm saying. His mind is not right-right now. He's thinking he doesn't deserve anything in life. So he's gotta go somewhere where he fits.

Sonny calls Dante when he finds a dead body in his office. 6/2/11

Sonny: Ok, she's made a lot of contacts because she was married to Theo for all those years. Underground contacts. Now, that's where I use my resources so we can be one step ahead of her. You understand what I'm saying?

Dante: Sure.

Sonny: I'm thinking she took the kid, stashed him somewhere, and is going to come back.

Dante: If she's gone, why would she come back?

Sonny: To tie up all the loose ends. Look, if she set herself up as a grieving grandmother, if she did that long enough so Brenda loses hope of ever finding her son, right, she never has to see us again. But when she shows up, we drop the hammer and we show her proof that she took the little boy.

Dante: That'd be great, but, Sonny, we don't have any proof.

Sonny: Well, that's where you come in.

Dante: Thank you, but I'm not on the case anymore, and I'm a cop. What do you want me . . .

Sonny: I know. You're a cop, off the case because of conflict of interest. This could be the first time that your badge is worth something.

Sonny: We're talking about Michael's life here. Forget your principles, do what you gotta do to protect your brother.

Dante: Don't tell me how to protect my brother.

Sonny: Well, you're not doing a good job right now of it!

Dante talks to Sonny. 4/11

Dante: Abby's ex-boyfriend was found dead in the parking lot of Vaughn's with 2 bullets in his head.

Sonny: And I know you're doing everything you can to protect your brother.

Dante: Michael's more worried about Abby than he is himself.

Sonny: Abby is a big girl. She can take care of herself. Michael needs to be careful or he's going back to prison. You know that.

Dante: There is another concern.

Sonny: What the hell does that mean, another concern?

Dante: I have reason to believe that john Zacchara is trying to exploit the situation.

Dante helps rescue Brenda from the Balkan. 3/11

Dante talks to Lucky. 3/11

Dante comforts Sonny after the car bomb explosion after Sonny and Brenda's wedding. Sonny thinks Brenda is dead. 2/25/11

Sonny: Thanks. And not just for the help with security. I know things have been complicated with us. And we've talked about that a lot and everything, but, I appreciate you putting that aside and standing up with me at the wedding, being my best man. Because I know you weren't comfortable with that.

Dante: Look, ever since you found out that I was your son, you've done nothing but reach out and try and make me feel like a part of the family. I know I haven't accepted every overture, but I just want you to know how much that means to me.

Dante: I put Michael in Pentonville. I trapped him like a rat, made him easy prey for a guy like Carter.

Sonny: There's nothing on this earth worse than watching the people you love suffer for the choices you've made. You suffered because of my choices. Now Michael's suffering because of the choices that we made.

Dante: I'm so sorry. I don't know what to do. I want to give him some peace, I don't know how to do that.

Sonny: I don't have an answer. I mean, this is the worst thing. I don't even know how I'm going to begin to help him. Whatever. I don't know.

Dante questions being a cop. 2/4/11

Carly confronts Dante about sending Michael to prison. 2/3/11

Michael goes off on Dante. 3/11

Sonny: I should be happy because we couldn't be in the same room a little while ago, and I thought we'd be in a better place by now, but I do believe we're making some progress. I know it's never going to be easy like it is with me and Michael. I know I'm rambling, so here's the deal. Michael suggested that I ask you to stand up with me at my wedding.

Dante: Wow. That's not at all what I was expecting.

Sonny: So I'm asking you if you would be my best man.

Dante: It means a lot that you would ask me to do that, but I'm sorry. I can't.

Sonny: Why?

Brenda: Did I interrupt something?

Dante: No. I was about to go.

Sonny: No, you're not. I want her to wait, because it's her wedding, too.

Brenda: What?

Sonny: Well, you have your attendants, you know, Kristina, Molly, and Robin. I'm trying to get my things going, so I asked Dante to be my best man. And then you walked in. He turned me down, I think he was going to tell me why.

Dante: Look, let's not get into a debate about whether I should or shouldn't be your best man. I'm coming to the wedding. Let's let that be enough.

Sonny: Well, I'll take it, if I have to, but it's Michael's idea, and I want to do it for him.

Dante: Okay, I'll explain it to Michael.

Sonny: Well, can you just explain it to me? You are my son, and I want you there on the happiest day of my life. I know there's been bad blood between us and I've hurt you in a way that a father shouldn't hurt a son, but we do have common ground here. Michael, Morgan, and Kristina are your siblings, right? We're family. Brenda just completes the circle. Just for one day, if we could just be together, you know, on a positive side.

Brenda: You're talking about you don't want to get emotionally involved, this man is your father. He's going to want to be emotionally involved with you whether or not you're his best man. I mean, this is our day, our one day. We want it to be about love. We want it to be about family. We want it to stay simple. All of Sonny's kids are going to be in the ceremony. I understand you don't have a perfect relationship with your father. I'm really sorry about that. But you don't realize how lucky you are. I have zero connection with my father. And all of these little kids, your younger siblings, are going to be in this ceremony. Maybe if you can't do it for your own father, maybe you could do it for your younger brothers and sister. Maybe you could do it as a favor to me. Please.

Dante: That's not fair.

Brenda: You know I fight dirty.

Dante: All right, looks like you got a best man.

Dante sits vigil at Olivia's bedside after the bus crash. 1/11

Dante and Lulu dance at Luke and Tracy's wedding. 12/10

Dante guarded Brenda as a rookie cop. 2010

Sonny: Now I know something's going on with Brenda, and I believe that you know what's going on. Maybe you saw something once you killed that guy. I don't know. Tell me.

Dante: I met Brenda before you introduced us.

Sonny: What? Why didn't you say anything?

Dante: I don't know. Look, I was--I was one of four police guards she had in 2007. I recognized her in your living room. I didn't think she remembered me.

Sonny: Okay. Did she?

Dante: Yeah, she did. Once I asked her about it, she said she did. She was very gracious, you know, we talked about what a small world it is, that, you know, one of her old guards is now your long lost son and none of us even knew.

Sonny: Yeah, I didn't know, right? Until now. It's a small world. So were you assigned to her, or did she want you to guard her?

Dante: No, I was assigned to her.

Sonny: Yeah. And now you don't want to give it up.

Dante: Not until I know she's safe.

Sonny: How do we make that happen?

Sonny: You know, it's been a hard road for me and Kristina and getting to a place where we're starting to be okay. And I mean starting to be okay.

Dante: Yeah. I know.

Sonny: This place . . . it's about to blow. And Kristina's going to be angry and disappointed and hurt and the whole nine yards, and I just . . .

Dante: Like, what you're saying to me right now is sounding a lot like an admission of guilt, and yeah, I'm a cop. You have to deny when you're around me.

Sonny: Yeah, but right now, I'm not talking to a cop. I'm talking to Kristina's brother. I just want you to tell her the truth. That I love her, and that all I ever wanted to do was keep her safe.

Dante on the Balkan case. 11/10

Dante goes to Ireland to help Lucky on a case. 9/10

Dante: Whatever happens between you and Claire, that's your business. But you know, she does have a lot on the line. Maybe you don't want to string her along if you know it's not going anywhere.

Sonny: I've given up making promises I can't keep a long time ago.

Dante: All right. I'm going to go check on Michael.

Sonny: Anything else happens to Michael, let me know.

Dante: Yeah.

Sonny: And Dante? Thanks, again, for what you're doing for Michael.

Dante: Yeah. Just as long as you know it doesn't change anything. I'm still a cop. You're still a crime boss. You slip up, I'll take you down.

Sonny: I would never, ever stop you from doing your job. But it's just nice for one night that it didn't get in the way of you being my son.

Sonny: I'm never going to stop loving my children, and whether you like it or not, that includes you. 6/21/10

Sonny continues to try and establish a relationship with Dante, without much success. 5/10

Dante advocates to get Michael out of Pentonville. 5/10

Sonny and Dante at the courthouse. 5/10

Dante: I sat in that courtroom and I listened to the judge say he did what was in Michael's best interest. He wanted to get him away from your influence, tell him that nobody was above the law and that justice isn't for sale. Those are familiar words. I've used them myself. Only a judge has a right to make that call. I tried to play god and it blew up in Michael's face. 5/10/10

Sonny: If you need to hate me, go ahead. But why go after Michael? Why would you want to hurt your brother? 5/3/10

Sonny: He had gone through too much already I didn't want my son to be branded a killer. That's not what I wanted for the rest of his life. And I don't think that's what you want either. 4/23/10

Dante brings Michael back to Port Charles to turn him in for the murder of Claudia Zacchara 4/10.

Sonny: My point is, that the law matters less to you, than the people you love. 4/12/10

Sonny: Okay. You get a free pass on this one, okay? But the next one's gonna cost you. Because I'll tell you what. You are my son, but you can only push me so far. 4/6/10

Dante testifies at Sonny's trial. 3/23/10

Sonny: You're just as stubborn as I am. You are determined to shut me out of you life, just like I am as determined to be a part of your life. 3/5/10

Dante testifies at Sonny's arraignment. 3/1/10

Sonny: That anger, that refusal to forgive? Just like me. 2/22/10

Sonny: Goodbye, son. 2/26/10

Robin: Yeah. But it would have been a lot worse without Sonny. I mean, Sonny stepped in like you can't even imagine. He paid all of Stone's medical bills. I mean, he was there for him through the entire process. Stone died in Sonny's home. And then by that time, I had already found out that I was HIV positive, and then he was there for me as my constant, giving me all the love and support that I needed. I mean, I'm telling you, there was time in my life when, really, there was no one else that understood the way I felt, what I had lost, and how much I missed Stone. I mean, I know to everybody else, you know, Sonny's this, like, heartless mobster, but, to me, he is the most generous and kind person I have ever met. 2/25/10

Dante had to cope with the knowledge that Sonny is his father. 2010

Sonny: Admit it. We were working together, we had a friendship. I was gonna teach you everything I know, like a mentor, like a father would. There were times you got real with me. I respected you. I counted on you. And even in the end, you weren't afraid. And I felt there was something there. I just want to say that since I am your father now, I just hope we can work things out.

Dante: Sonny, the man who shot me for being an undercover cop. He's my father? I called him out on all that Lieutenant Poletti stuff. I told him his kids were going suffer for everything he's done. And then he shot me. And then the rest gets... kind of hazy after that. I think I heard my mom scream. Was my mom there? She was, she was screaming. She was screaming, "Sonny, you just shot your son." That means my mom knew. She knew the whole time and she never told me anything. She's been lying to me for years.

Sonny: Tell Dante that I love him and that I'm sorry. And I didn't want to leave. 2/2/10

Sonny: I trusted you. I liked you. In some ways I still do. You got guts, you're smart, you gained acceptance from my family. I was seriously considering making you my successor. Bet you got a good laugh out of that one, didn't you?

Sonny and Dante 2010

Dante is very close to busting Sonny. 1/10

Dante: I can see the look in Sonny's eyes when he realizes he's been betrayed. Sonny likes me. He believes in me. He wants to groom me to take over for him someday. Can you believe that? I mean, me instead of his own son. I gotta admit for a minute there, I was honored. You know, I thought, sure, I can do this if it means this much to this guy. How crazy is that? I came here hating Sonny Corinthos. Now I like him. I even admire him on some level. And now I'm gonna destroy him. 1/25/10

Sonny: And you're not just smart, right? And ambitious. You know what it takes to work hard, and I respect that. Now, look, it's not like this time is gonna come soon, but one day I will step down, and I'm gonna need someone to take over the organization. And I'm considering you.

Dante hesitates about taking Sonny down. 1/10

Sonny: Your cell phone number was on a note on Lucky's desk. Which begs the question, why would a cop have your cell phone number?

Dominic: Look, I was, uh, at Lucky's house for Christmas Eve. He called to invite me over. He must have left my phone number by his phone on his desk.

Sonny: A cop invites one of my men to his home for the holidays?

Sonny and Dante discover they have a lot in common at Christmas dinner. They both have a lot of NY Yankee stories to tell. But only Olivia knows that Sonny and Dante are father and son. 12/22/09.

Sonny: You're too valuable to waste. I'm gonna get somebody else.

Dominic: Look, I don't want any special treatment around here.

Sonny: What do you mean? You deserve it. Look what you did at the shootout. I'd be dead right now.

Dominic: I saw a gunman. I pushed you down. That was right place, right time. That's all.

Sonny: That's what I'm talkin' about. It's second nature to you, like pushin' my son out of the way at the carnival when the car was gonna hit him and it hit you instead. Most people don't have those kind of instincts. You do.

Dominic: I'm guessing you do, too.

Sonny: Well, maybe that's why I appreciate it. Like I said, I'd be dead if it wasn't for you. I don't wanna squander your life. Excuse me. Johnny, I need you over here. I got a job for you.

Sonny and Dante talk business. 11/09.

Dominic: You know, showing me the door's becoming a common occurrence with you. Should my feelings be hurt?

Sonny: No, because I like you. That's why I wouldn't try to stop you if you try to go out that door, said you didn't want to be a part of this life anymore. You're young, you're smart. Who knows, you might even pull it off.

Dominic: What, are you telling me you've wanted out?

Sonny: Who doesn't? This is no way to live, especially if you have kids. They're always in danger. And you tell yourself that, you know, it's this, it's that. But there's no justification. You get blood on your hands. Who wouldn't want out?

Dominic: But you're still here.

Sonny: Who you are has a way of grabbing you back.

Sonny: You remember the talk we had about Lulu a while back?

Dominic: Every word.

Sonny: Yeah. I'm good friends with her father and I respect him very much, and I hold Lulu's mother in high regard. I don't want to see Lulu unhappy.

Dominic: No. We're on the same page.

Sonny: Right. Well, that's why you shouldn't be dragging her into our business . . . taking her to the Zacchara mansion, having her fall through the floor, almost drown, right?

Dominic: Ahem. Point taken.

Sonny: You, take good care of Lulu.

Dominic: I understand. You think she likes me?

Sonny: She's waiting for you outside.

Dominic: What, you think so?

Sonny: She's waiting for you outside.

Dominic: Thanks, boss.
