The Good Father

The testimony for what a great father Sonny Corinthos has always been. March 2004.

Part of the reason that Sonny is fighting so hard to keep those boys is because he doesn't want them growing up without a father around like he did. –Mike

Sonny Corinthos knows what it means to grow up without a real father, what it means to have no heroes, no one to set boundaries, no one to toss a baseball in the park with. He's felt the pain of a walk away father, that empty place inside that no amount of money, love, or power can fill. That's why my client wants to be a full-time father. Sonny wants the opportunity to teach his boys how to be good men, honest men from a good home, the kind of home he could only dream of. In this world of absentee fathers, my client simply wants the opportunity to bring up his boys. –Justus

Sonny's the best man I know. If I could choose my father, I would choose him. Because I knew he would help Michael the same way that he helped me. That's why I wanted sonny to be Michael's dad. I knew he'd be good at it. Sonny is Michael's true father. –Jason

Sonny: Michael has lived with me since he was 2 years old. He's as much my son as Morgan.

Justus: You adopted Michael, is that correct?

Sonny: I was honored to. He's an exceptional little boy.

Justus: Why don't you tell the court about your relationship with your boys?

Sonny: They're my heart. I mean, they're the greatest children in the world. There's nothing I wouldn't do for either of them.

Sam: I wanted to let you know that no matter what happens in court today, you are a wonderful father, and you're going to have your kids in the end.

Sonny: Well, that's sweet. I really haven't been hearing a lot of that lately. But, no offense, but I don't know how good of a father I am right now, you know?

Sam: Well, I have eyes. I see the love in your eyes when you talk about your sons.

Justus: Your husband is not the biological father of Michael, is he?

Carly: No, he is not.

Justus: Yet you asked him to adopt him?

Carly: Yes.

Justus: Why?

Carly: Because he loves Michael. He loves Morgan, too. He just wants them to have a good life.
